An assessment framework

Which projects do we start, which won't get a chance? Building an innovation program is very much a matter of choices. These choices are accepted when the framework for the assessment of ideas is widely accepted.

The obvious criteria are of course:
- Profitability
- IP protectability

For an innovation that makes a real difference, these three focus areas are at least as important in the assessment framework:
- Expectations about the future
- Market knowledge
- Strategic choices

A living framework

All three focus areas should be sharp and kept sharp. The tentacles should be exposed at all times. All disciplines should interact with the environment. With society, customers, suppliers, competitors, government, research institutes, educational institutes, other industries, communities and so forth. Internationally.
